It’s been a while in the making but we are pleased to announce that we are proud to have been greatly involved and responsible for the launch of the new School for Parents website, and especially to be able to launch it in time for their two television slots on the 13th November 2015. The first appearing on local television channel Notts TV in the 5:30 news, and then being given a substantial 3 minute slot on BBC’s Children in Need, broadcasting to 7.7 million people and raising a record breaking £37m.
Why did we get involved?
We’ve spent some time looking for the ideal charity to support, and whilst looking through a range of worthy candidates, Nottingham based School for Parents stood out and caught our attention – extremely hard working and active, with the most to benefit through a professional and bespoke website and the greatest difference they can create.
So why School for Parents?
School for Parents originally started in 1978 as part of the Scope network and in 1981 moved into supporting disabled children and their families; travel forward 34 years to 2015 and School for Parents is actively working with local businesses to create mutual support, greatly involved in the local area using social media, and amazing fund raisers whilst providing excellent events for both members and the general public, creating activities for families and children in the summer, social balls for the adults, and even Christmas parties. They now also benefit from support from Children in Need since they’ve now become a wholly independent charity, and although they have great support, they need to raise £220,000 per year in order to sustain themselves, and this is becoming increasingly difficult.
How have we helped?
The new website we have built will allow for easier interactive editing and maintenance for the School for Parents staff, which will also allow for cheaper website maintenance moving forward. There has also been a focus on making the website more intuitive and responsive, allowing for easier navigation and user experience. With better calls to action, this will allow the website to perform greatly in assisting School for Parents with fundraising and advertising. We have also placed a heavy focus on developing the website with SEO (search engine optimisation) in mind, including concise code, exceeding search engine standards and recommendations, and restructuring the existing content into a way which is both more user friendly, and easier for search engines to understand and navigate.
The key to the success of any website is the ongoing support and growth of the website, alongside other key actions as part of the marketing mix and overall marketing strategy. We aim to work closely with School for Parents and to help them develop on their marketing strategy to continue their success.
